it's capable of pp though, so there's more versatility there.Īrk 3 the the most violent and aggressive libraries i own, and is super fun, but i'd only recommend it if you got ark 4, because it's super niche and would just fill the gaps of powerful rhythms, ffff loudness, and an almost psychotic aggression. they are on crazy discounts, and what you pay now would end up being the same as just ark 1 at normal price, maybe even less actually, i think they're 63% off or something.Īrk 4 is a smaller ensemble, but the sound is still huge, and i often use it in tracks with ark 1. Right now there are some crazy deals going on, and I would actually recommend getting ark 3 and ark 4. but if you're like me and either don't know much about classical instrumentation, or are just ok with what you got and what sounds good, they are great choices. the multis and ensemble patches that come with ark 3 and ark 4 are especially good, albeit strange and limiting at times.
METROPOLIS ARK 1 FL STUDIO SERIES
If you're ok with ensemble libraries, the ark series is one of the most fun sets of kontakt /sine instruments to use, IF that is the general sound you're going for. Things that are good for many things tend NOT to be great at any specific thing. So, are you looking for epic or are you looking for versatile library? In my opinion you can't have both, you need to have many to cover multiple areas. In what way you need it to be versatile? If you want versatile, buy something else. Ark 1 is especially epic, made to be epic.
METROPOLIS ARK 1 FL STUDIO FULL
So I had to buy Ark1 after spending big sum of money on libraries I rarely use (and I bought them full price because I was clueless).Īs for "is Ark1 versatile enough?", that's a little strange question here. I even bought The Orchestra Complete after Nucelus because TOC has somewhat rougher sound. Nucleus will not help you in your epic endeavours. I just tell you what was told to me in this forum earlier: Just buy Ark 1, it's cheaper to buy things only once. In my opinion they are not even in same league considering epicness. Purchased Nucleus first, had to purchase Ark 1 later. I have Nucleus and Ark 1 just for the same purposes as you mention. I like Ark 1 - it's speciality is "loud" - but it's therefore niche - so you probably would want something covering more range/ground. I find the sound design patches more useful than the main orchestral patches. This is very a personal take - but I've never really liked the tone of Albion One (I much preferred the original Albion - even though it had flaws). Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass) rather than the other libraries where you only get high/mid/low ensembles. Woodwinds) and some of the sections are broken down (eg. The other nice thing about it is that you get some some solo patches (eg. It does have a slightly more modern tone than the other two. The patches are also not too resource heavy.

You get a modern and a classic mix and can control the amount of reverb and these have are a nice balance of dry but with a touch of space which you can dial up if you need to - so you have some level of control. I should add the disclaimer - I don't actually own it, but I did get the Jaeger bundle a few months back (which has the same strings/brass sections - just with more control over the mics).

I'd definitely go Nucleus if I were in your situation - it would cover the most ground.
